Killer Every Minute on the Minute Workout

I have noticed that an issue people have with being active is that they feel like they don't have enough time to workout or exercise, and to that I say "Stop making excuses!" I think the key to having time to working out is figuring out where you can make the time, even if it is just twenty minutes. So often we spend some of our time mindlessly scrolling on our phone, when that twenty minutes we sat scrolling could have been used to get a quick workout done. 

One workout format that I have learned to really enjoy (despite how brutal it can be) is an Every Minute on the Minute workout (EMOM). This workout was introduced to me by the amazing Madeline Custer (on Instagram as @madeline_moves, and I highly giving her blog and account a follow if you want tons of fun resources and healthy living wisdom). Basically how it works is you pick a handful of exercises, the amount of reps you want to do each exercise, and you give yourself a time limit (i.e. 35 minutes). Here's an EMOM workout I did the other day, and I dare you to try! Grab a set of dumb bells or two and get working! 



20 weighted jump squats 

15 weighted sit ups 

10 reverse lunges with a single arm overhead press (perform ten each side)

40 plank shoulder taps

12 upward rows to lateral raise 

15 sit to squats 

10 burpees

Start a stop watch and at the top of each minute, perform the exercise and correct amount of reps. Have time left in the minute? Congratulations, that's your rest time! At the beginning of the next minute you begin the next exercise. Can't complete all of the reps in a minute? That's fine! Just push yourself, and move on to a new exercise with each new minute. Depending on how much time you have helps you decide how many times you can do the circuit. This particular EMOM has seven exercises. I had 35 minutes to workout, so I did the circuit five times through and was dripping with sweat by the end of it!
